For Levi Strauss & Co., pride goes beyond just a collection. Pride is what we foster — a sense of belonging for our employees and communities that’s intrinsic to our values and how they are reflected in our actions. This is why we continue to stand with our LGBTQIA+ employees and allies everywhere by lending our voice in support of transgender youth and their parents in Texas and queer students and teachers in Florida in their fight against discrimination.

As part of this support, we joined the Human Rights Campaign and Freedom for All Americans’ statement against any legislation that excludes LGBTQIA+ people from full participation in daily life, a statement that now over 170 businesses subscribe to. Last week we also joined 60 other companies in a full-page ad in the Dallas Morning News calling on the governor of Texas to abandon anti-LGBTQIA+ efforts.

The decision from the Texas administration to investigate parents of trans youth is a clear attempt to discriminate against the LGBTQIA+ community. Similarly, the proposed legislation by Florida lawmakers that would ban the discussion or instruction of gender equity and sexual orientation is another blatant effort to target and discriminate against the LGBTQIA+ community.

Equality and nondiscrimination are integral to how we do business. When it comes to advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community, LS&Co. will continue to be relentless in our efforts to ensure our company is a place that encourages inclusive practices, promotes equity and values diversity — a company where everyone feels a sense of belonging and where anyone can be their authentic selves.

Our support of equality was born from the courage of employees. They are why LS&Co. has been in the fight for equality for over 30 years — from extending health benefits to unmarried domestic partners long before others did or fighting in court to achieve marriage equality.

LS&Co. has been — and will continue to be — vocal supporters of equality and nondiscrimination. Learn more about our history of fighting for LGBTQIA+ equality.
