This Candidate Privacy Notice (this “Notice”) provides additional details on Levi Strauss &Co.’s (“We” “Our(s)”, “Us”) privacy practices associated with the submission and processing of personal information submitted by job applicants (“Candidate(s)” or “You”) including through the Work With Us job site at https://www.levistrauss.com/work-with-us/.

This Notice is a supplement to the LS&Co. Privacy Policy available at https://www.levi.com.  Depending on where you apply for a position with Us, additional information may be provided to you relating to the content of this Notice.

What We Collect and How We Collect It

We collect and process personal Information for recruitment and hiring purposes as described in this Notice (“Recruitment Activities”). Once You are hired at LS&Co., personal information related to Your employment is covered by a separate privacy notice for personnel.

The kinds of personal information we collect from job applicants includes information, typically found in resumes, CVs and cover letters, such as: names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, employment history, educational history, accomplishments, awards, recognition, references, license status, interests and skills (“Candidate Personal Information”). 

During our Recruitment Activities, We may obtain information about You from publicly available sources or from third parties, including references, background check suppliers, and the like. This is also considered Candidate Personal Information. We take steps to confirm that information We receive from these third parties has been collected with Your consent or that these parties are otherwise legally permitted to disclose Your personal information to Us.  Collection of Candidate Personal Information from such third parties may be accompanied by a separate privacy statement and we strongly encourage you to carefully read such statements. 

How We Use and Share Your Personal Information

We use Candidate Personal Information for Recruitment Activities like communicating with you, evaluating your qualifications, experience and skills, preparing for interview or screening discussions (including arranging travel where applicable or reimbursing you for expenses), preparing and negotiating offers, defining job roles and responsibilities, salary and benefits. Recruitment Activities may also include background checks conducted with additional notice and in accordance with applicable laws.  Other service providers may also have access to Candidate Personal Information to support Our Recruitment Activities, such as cloud service providers and software/technology providers.  For some Recruitment Activities, members of our Board of Directors, outside counsel or other advisors may be engaged to provide Us with guidance.

If you are applying for a position in the European Union, the above purposes constitute the legitimate interests of Levi Strauss & Co.

Retention

We retain Candidate Personal Information as needed for Recruitment Activities,  compliance with laws and related business purposes. Retention periods can vary significantly based on the type of information, applicable legal requirements and how the information is used by our business. 

For applicants in the European Union who are not hired after applying for a position, Your application information is retained for 12 months (for office positions) and 6 months (for store positions) after conclusion of all Recruitment Activities for legitimate business purposes including for the purpose of contacting you for future opportunities. You may always opt out of this kind of contact.

International Transfers

We store Candidate Personal Information in a central database located in the country of our choice, currently in the United States of America (USA). We may disclose your data to recipients that include Our affiliates and external service providers and agents who may be located in countries with laws that are not as protective as those in your location. By submitting an application through Our systems, You are agreeing to the collection, use, transfer, and disclosure of Your Personal Information and that communications will be governed by the applicable laws in the United States.  Where necessary, we comply with laws governing the international transfer of personal information through the execution of legally required data protection agreements incorporating, where applicable, standard contractual clauses approved for use by the European Union. For all other questions, please follow the instructions in the application process.

Your Choices and Rights

You may have rights to correct, update, request access to or deletion of Candidate Personal Information as described in Our Privacy Policy, and as permitted by applicable laws.  Some of these actions may be taken directly on our job application site through your profile or by making choices on communications you receive from us, i.e. an “unsubscribe”. 

For candidates in the European Union, You may have additional rights.  Please contact us at MBXLSAprivacy@levi.com if you wish to (a) to cancel Your application, (b) request that We no longer collect, process or use Your Candidate Personal Information to interact with You as a job candidate, (c) access, obtain a copy, make modifications or corrections to, or transfer, Your Candidate Personal Information, or (d) make a complaint. We will endeavor to respond to your request within a reasonable period of time.  Although we would like to resolve any concerns you may have directly, please note that you are also free to contact or lodge a complaint with your competent supervisory authority.
