Get to know our newly hired or recently promoted leaders at Levi Strauss & Co. through these Quick Qs. Meet JungHwa Gallivan our new Vice President, Field Sales.

What did you do before joining LS&Co.?

My background is primarily in smaller contemporary brands; spanning from Juicy Couture, DVF, rag & bone across planning and sales. I most recently managed global sales at Mackage, a Canadian outerwear brand, and helped shape the wholesale distribution from a price driven environment to a clearer, more focused, brand elevating platform.

What attracted you to LS&Co.?

What attracted me to LS&Co. is Levi’s ability to continue to thrive in this hyper competitive brand environment even after 150 plus years.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

To ask for/find a great mentor or life coach. There was so much fear of not succeeding that I did not actively pursue or engage as meaningfully as I wanted and a strong mentor could have helped me to understand that failing does not mean failure. I was fortunate to have found one eventually and I am always actively seeking thought partners!

What is your favorite quote and why?

“Silence is the language of god. Listen.” As one who is definitely not spiritual or religious, I am constantly surprised at how much this quote means to me. It’s a very personal journey to build listening as a skill – without judgement, prejudice, predisposition or to problem solve. To just listen.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

I am serial thought-preneur. Not quite fully an entrepreneur; I have started businesses but have yet to bring them to completion. The closest I got was with a shoe brand, where I had incorporated a company, produced samples, and created linesheets. My time will come and it will be that much sweeter when it does!
