A Message from Our DE&I Leader

Bringing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to Life at LS&Co.

Here at Levi Strauss & Co., we’re committed to creating a workplace where people from all backgrounds feel confident that their voices will be heard and their contributions welcomed. It’s not just the right thing to do – it’s a business imperative. We know that companies are stronger and more successful when they are diverse and inclusive.

We’ve made strides toward achieving that goal, but we also know that we’re not there yet.

The first step in any journey is to be transparent about where you stand, acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses, and set out a clear plan to make change. That’s what LS&Co. did with the initial release of our representation data, a renewed commitment to making tangible progress. But it’s the next steps — and there will be many — that are even more important.

We are putting programs into place to recruit, hire and promote more people of color at all levels of the company, and we’ll continue to share our progress toward achieving a workforce that reflects the communities where we work and serve. We’ve doubled down on creating safe spaces to drive honest, provocative conversations through our Employee Resource Groups, and are investing in resources to engage employees around allyship and racial justice. We will track and measure progress, celebrate wins and hold ourselves accountable if we fall short.

This is an ongoing process, and one that will take tenacity, care and commitment. But, guided by a long company legacy of originality, empathy, integrity and courage, it’s a challenge I’m confident we’re ready to meet.

We're making tangible progress across diversity, equity and inclusion.
We will only be at our best if everyone can bring their true, authentic self to work every day and be at their best.

We know that diverse teams make stronger companies - and we encourage you to be yourself, add your voice and know that we celebrate everything that you bring to the table.

A few of the ways we strive to create a diverse and inclusive workplace:

Employee Resource Groups

Our ERGs will get you involved so you feel connected, engaged and encouraged to bring your whole self to work- every day.

Diverse Hiring Practices

Diversity begins with how we hire – and who. We leverage the latest tools and creative partnerships to ensure we recruit from the most representative talent pools we can.

Pay Equity

Valuing diverse perspectives has been integral to our success. While we know that creating pay equity is simply the right thing to do, research shows workplace diversity is also good for business. We consistently strive to bridge pay gaps in all our employee markets.

Education and Speaker Events

Creating an inclusive workforce means connecting our employees to the issues that matter – and to each other. Our diversity events bring together leading speakers with learning opportunities that strengthen our understanding of the world around us.

Understanding Unconscious Bias

Required for all leaders, this training helps increase our leadership team’s awareness of how the shortcuts in our brain work – and how different backgrounds, personal experiences and cultural context can affect our actions without our ever realizing it.
